Young Indian Diplomat Petal Gahlot Hits Out at Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif at UNGA, Dares to Act Against Terror

India strongly criticised Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s speech at the UN General Assembly, accusing him of glorifying terrorism and presenting a false narrative.
At the UN General Assembly, young Indian diplomat Petal Gahlot made a powerful statement, challenging Shehbaz Sharif and daring him to act against terrorism. Her remarks stood out for their boldness and clarity on India’s stance against cross-border terror.

Exercising the right of reply of India on Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif’s speech, First Secretary in India’s Permanent Mission to the UN, Petal Gahlot says, “The Pakistani Prime Minister has spoken about wanting peace with India. If he is indeed sincere, the pathway is clear. Pakistan must immediately shut down all terrorist camps and hand over to us the terrorists wanted in India. It is also ironic that a country which follows in hate, bigotry and intolerance should preach to this assembly on matters of faith. The political and public discourse of Pakistan reflects its true nature. Clearly, a look by them at the mirror is long overdue”

What Petal Gahlot said at UNGA against Pakistan

“The intervening event was the destruction caused to multiple Pakistani air bases by Indian forces. The pictures of that damage are, of course, publicly accessible. If destroyed runways and burnt-out hangars look like victory, as the Prime Minister claimed, Pakistan is welcome to enjoy it. The truth is that as in the past, Pakistan is responsible for a terrorist attack on innocent civilians in India. We have exercised the right to defend our people”

Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif at UNGA

On September 26, 2025, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan is ready for full talks with India, praising U.S. President Donald Trump for helping reduce tensions. Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Sharif said Trump’s intervention prevented a full-scale war after India’s May attacks on Pakistani military sites following a massacre in Kashmir. He claimed Pakistan successfully resisted Indian aggression and called for proactive leadership in South Asia. Sharif described Trump’s leadership as “bold and visionary,” with Pakistani officials suggesting he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for helping end the conflict.

Modi played down any role by Trump. The once-tight U.S. relationship with India has since soured, with Trump slapping tariffs over India’s purchases of oil from Russia.
