The Yogi government has now geared up in action mode to develop the State Capital Region (SCR) on the lines of the National Capital Region (NCR). The state government has issued an official notification for the SCR.

Under the Yogi government’s plan, 27,860 square meters are proposed to be acquired for the SCR. Lucknow, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Sitapur, and Barabanki have been included in the SCR. The urbanization and development of all these districts, according to the plan, would be done through the formation of development authorities.

Authority leadership structure

The Chief Minister will be the Chairman of this authority. The Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Departmental Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, and many department secretaries of key departments will also be its members. All the District Magistrates of the six districts and Vice-Chairpersons of the Development Authorities will also be its members.

Membership details

The membership of the authority will also comprise some officers appointed by the Government of India and the Ministry of Defence. The location for the Secretary of the SCR Authority will be near the Divisional Commissioner in Lucknow. The government is of the view that the SCR will prepare an appropriate framework for urbanization.

Development consultants

Consultants will develop the foundational infrastructure in this region. They will prepare a blueprint for the proposed area of the SCR, considering educational, health, archaeological, historical, cultural, religious, and tourist considerations.

SCR development plan expansion

CM Yogi directed the officers to include Lucknow’s adjoining districts like Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Sitapur, and Barabanki in the SCR development plan. He asked them to prepare a master plan with requirements estimated for 50 years.
