Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Independence Day gave a firm warning to Pakistan, with which it shares its border, that the government will not tolerate any aggression or attack on its territory. He said if Pakistan tries to be adventurous, he will teach them the lesson of a lifetime.

Captain’s statement came on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day.

“We will not tolerate any aggression or attack on our territory. We will teach them (Pakistan) the lesson of their lifetime if they try to be adventurous,” the Chief Minister’s Office quoted the CM as saying.

Laying emphasis on the need to ensure peace in the state to promote the development of industry and the progress of people, he said his government will not tolerate any threat, including those from gangsters and terrorists. “We will deal with them squarely,” he said, adding that “any threat to Punjab will be a danger to our entire nation”.

Speaking further, the chief minister said from the time his government took charge, 47 Pakistani terrorist modules and 347 modules of gangsters were busted. Some key gangsters have been deported from Armenia, the UAE and other countries while more are awaiting deportation.

He also elaborated on the efforts made by the Congress government in Punjab to get the sacrilege cases back from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The chief minister hoisted the national flag at a state-level function in Amritsar. “Ushering in 75th Independence Day brings greater responsibility on all of us to make Punjab and India stronger and more developed. Punjabis have always toiled hard to make the nation self-reliant and secure. I salute the spirit and enterprise of all Punjabis, on this historic occasion,” Amarinder said in a tweet.
