The newly appointed head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk has been assigned a big task by President Trump. Musk in an X post mentioned about it. The President has asked SpaceX founder, Musk to bring home the 2 astronauts stranded on the ISS as soon as possible.

The request by United States President was posted on the website, Truth Social. The post read as, “I have just asked Elon Musk and @SpaceX to “go get” the 2 brave astronauts who have been virtually abandoned in space by the Biden Administration. They have been waiting for many months on @Space Station. Elon will soon be on his way. Hopefully, all will be safe. Good luck Elon!!!”

In response to this post, Elon Musk reacted with an emoji which means ‘aye aye captain.’ He has acknowledged the request made by Trump.

In his order, President Trump has expressed displeasure with the Biden administration’s handling of situation involving two astronauts. He stressed that the previous administration ‘abandoned’ the astronauts in space. Notably, Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita Williams, have been aboard the International Space Station (ISS) since June 5, 2024. The astronauts were left on the ISS after an issue with their Boeing Starliner capsule delayed their return to Earth.

Elon Musk is yet to announce how and when the SpaceX will bring the astronauts back. But, he has assured that SpaceX will do so as soon as possible. Musk wrote on X, “The @POTUS has asked @SpaceX to bring home the 2 astronauts stranded on the @Space_Station as soon as possible. We will do so. Terrible that the Biden administration left them there so long.”
