Will Rishabh Pant Open For Lucknow Super Giants In IPL 2025? Sanjeev Goenka Reacts

Rishabh Pant achieved a huge pay rise in his Indian Premier League salary after he was picked for a price of INR 27 crores by the Lucknow Super Giants. The left-handed Indian wicket-keeper batter became the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League and he will look forward to take up the new opportunity given by LSG to him. Pant has been among the biggest match winners for the India national cricket team in the past few years and has seen a lot of tough time. The latter experienced a brutal accident during December 2022 and made a brilliant comeback after a gap of 1.5 years.

While the Lucknow Super Giants are yet to reveal their captain, team’s co-owner Sanjeev Goenka made a big revelation about Rishabh Pant’s batting order. Goenka gave an indication that Pant come into open the innings, however also mentioned that the team has a lot of options. Speaking on Aakash Chopra’s YouTube channel, he said, “Options are to open with Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh, Marsh and Rishabh Pant, or Markram and Rishabh. Now that is a call they have to take whether Rishabh will come at No. 3 or No. 2. Those are calls that frankly are beyond my capability and competence.”

The Lucknow Super Giants faced a lot of backlash from the fans when Sanjeev Goenka allegedly scolded KL Rahul during the IPL 2024 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad. LSG released Rahul and later he was picked up by the Delhi Capitals for a price of INR 14 crores. There are chances that Rishabh Pant may lead LSG whereas, likes of Aiden Markram have also the captaincy experience in the past and are a suitable candidate to lead the side.
