Days after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Swatantra Dev Singh said that Uttar Pradesh elections will be fought under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister said he will contest the forthcoming assembly polls if his party decides so.

Adityanath, who is currently a member of the UP Legislative Council, said he has always contested elections and will contest from wherever the party will say.

“The party has a parliamentary board and it decides who will contest from where,” he said in reply to another question.

BJP fulfilled all promises it made in 2017: Yogi Adityanath

He further said that the BJP government in the state has done whatever the party promised in the run-up to the last assembly polls in 2017.

On the law and order situation, the CM said that the state has set an example and over the last four years there was no riot and all festivals, including Diwali, were celebrated peacefully.

Calling UP, the best destination in the country for investment from abroad due to good road connectivity and guarantee of security, the CM said that earlier people used to say that UP starts with potholes and ditches and now it is known for expressways and a network of four-lane roads.

Yogi set to win UP elections: IANS-CVoter Snap Poll

As per the IANS-CVoter Snap Poll, Adityanath is set to win the UP elections despite his failure to handle the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

52 per cent of people have said that Yogi will win, while 37 per cent are of opinion that he will not be able to win the elections.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav announced on November 1 that he will not contest the coming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections himself.

The SP supremo did not give any reason for the decision but later said that a final decision on his contesting the polls will be taken by the party.
