Seasoned Australian paceman Mitchell Starc is set to achieve a colossal achievement in his superb career, with his upcoming appearance in the coming Test series between Australia and the West Indies at the legendary Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica. The milestone match will be his 100th Test match.

How Many Australians Have Played 100 Test Matches

Mitchell Starc’s upcoming milestone will make him the 16th Australian cricketer to have played 100 or more Test matches, being a part of an illustrious list of names that have contributed to the nation’s cricketing history.

At number one are Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh, with a joint record 168 Test matches. Next in line is Allan Border with 156 Tests, and legendary spinners Shane Warne (145) and Nathan Lyon (off-spin workhorse with 128+ Tests so far).

With his 100th match, Starc joins the list of the 16th Australian player to reach this milestone.

Just the Second Aussie Pace Bowler to Reach 100 Tests

While numerous Australian legends have reached the 100-Test mark, Mitchell Starc is only the second Australian fast bowler to achieve the feat, following Glenn McGrath. Globally, Starc is the 11th fast bowler to enter this elite club a recognition of his longevity and grit in a format regarded as cruel to fast bowlers.

Mitchell Starc’s Test Career

Reputed for his ferocious pace and deadly swing, Starc has been a stalwart of Australia’s red-ball bowling attack for more than a decade. In his 99 Test appearances, the left-arm pacer has taken 395 wickets at a staggering average of 27.40 and a strike rate of 48 statistics that tell a tale of his consistency and ability to win games for his side.

His recent West Indies performances have been as influential, taking eight wickets in the series to date. With one game remaining, Starc not only reached his 100th Test but also moved closer toward the prized 400-wicket mark – a milestone reached by only a few Test fast bowlers.
