Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Friday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the arrest of Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik and accused the BJP-led Centre of doing “disgusting politics”.It should be noted that Minority Affairs minister and NCP spokesperson Malik was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday in connection with a money-laundering probe linked to the activities of fugitive Dawood Ibrahim and his aides.
He has been remanded in ED custody till March 3.
Reacting to his arrest, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said, “This is very disgusting politics. When you lose elections… Central agencies and the Governor House are being misused in the country – look at what is happening in West Bengal. What kind of democracy is being run in our country?”
“Aaditya Thackeray said in UP yesterday that very disgusting politics is taking place in the country right now. We will have to fight it together,” he added.Following Malik’s arrest, the BJP has been vehemently asking for his removal from the state Cabinet,
however, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government has rejected the possibility of his resignation. When asked about the opposition party’s demand, Raut told media, “The BJP misuses central probe agencies for political gains, arrests our ministers and then holds protests seeking resignations. But it is Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray who has the authority to decide whether to accept or reject such resignation.””As the BJP is indulging in politics, we will also make some political moves,” said the Shiv Sena leader.Earlier in the day, Enforcement Directorate officials were seen taking out Nawab Malik from the ED office for a medical examination.
