Rana Daggubati And Family Booked: Know Everything About The Case Involving Illegal Demolition Of A Hotel

Actor Rana Daggubati, along with his uncle Venkatesh Daggubati, father Suresh Daggubati, and brother Abhiram Daggubati, have been accused of illegally demolishing the Deccan Kitchen Hotel in Hyderabad, despite being restrained by a court order.

As a result, the Hyderabad Police registered a case against the Daggubati family under sections 448, 452, 458, and 120B of the Indian Penal Code, which pertain to trespass and criminal conspiracy.

Background of the Case

The family allegedly demolished the hotel in January last year, violating a court order to maintain the status quo. The Deccan Kitchen Hotel, located in Hyderabad’s Film Nagar area, was owned by the Daggubati family. Daggubati, however, had leased it to Nanda Kumar, who is an accused in the alleged poaching of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now known as Bharat Rashtra Samithi) MLAs in 2022.

In November 2022, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) razed a portion of the hotel and adjoining structures constructed by Mr Kumar, alleging that they were unauthorised.

Key Developments

In July 2023, the High Court ordered the GHMC to explain the demolition and maintain the status quo.

However, when the Daggubati family demolished the entire hotel structure in January last year, Nanda Kumar approached the Nampally Court for violating court’s orders. He also claimed a loss of Rs 20 crore due to the demolition.

The court ordered the police to investigate the matter and register an FIR against the accused.

The case is currently under investigation, and no comments have been made by Rana Daggubati or his family members.
