June 14, 2021, will mark Sushant Singh Rajput’s first death anniversary. The late actor was one of the most celebrated actors in Bollywood amongst the younger generation. With several films to his credit, Sushant proved his mettle in the film industry and was quite successful with his transition from TV to films. That the actor was a die-hard fan of Shah Rukh Khan was no news. In fact, in many of his interviews, Sushant spoke about how he chose acting because of SRK.

In a throwback interview, Sushant spoke about the one similarity he has with SRK. Even though the two come from humble beginnings, and dropped out of college to pursue acting, started in theatre, Sushant had shared the one thing that was special about them. When the actor was starting out from TV to films, his transition of seamless and quite successful just like SRK. Both found their way into the industry without any Godfathers.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Sushant was quoted as saying that when he started out, he used to forget that this was what SRK and he had in common but everyone around him would remind him that it was impossible to repeat history.

Talking fondly about the actor, Sushant had said, “Frankly, I’m an actor right now because of Shah Rukh. When I was in school and even when studying engineering, I used to watch his films. Shah Rukh’s name was and is synonymous with romance. Whenever we spoke to girls, we used to talk like him. When I was in the eighth standard, I would dance to ‘Suraj hua madham’. I have to achieve many things before I become even the ‘S’ of SRK.”

Shah Rukh Khan had paid a tribute to Sushant in a special post after the latter’s demise. He shared a photo with him and wrote, “He loved me so much…I will miss him so much. His energy, enthusiasm and his full happy smile. May Allah bless his soul and my condolences to his near and dear ones. This is extremely sad….and so shocking!!

Sushant passed away on June 14, 2020, and was found hanging in his apartment. The case of his death is being investigated by three central agencies including the CBI, ED, and the Narcotics Control Bureau.
