Mahima Chaudhary won the Filmfare award for her terrific performance in the 1997 film Pardes opposite Shah Rukh Khan and it established her as an actress. The following years in B-Town were a lot about Mahima when she suddenly faded away from films. Mahima was launched by film director-producer Subhash Ghai in Pardes but the former had later alleged that she was “bullied” by the film director.

Mahima Chaudhary had once claimed that Subhash Ghai spread false reports of the actress having an exclusive contract with him and even sent an ad about it in a magazine, asking producers to not work with her. The actress claimed it to be a “stressful” period for her.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Mahima Chaudhary had shared, “I was bullied by Subhash Ghai. He even took me to the court and wanted me to cancel my first show. It was quite stressful. He sent a message to all the producers that nobody should work with me. If you pick up one of the issues of Trade Guide magazine in 1998 or 1999, there was an ad that he had given which stated that if anybody wanted to work with me, that person would have to contact him.”

She had further added, “Otherwise, it would be a breach of contract. However, there was no such contract which said that I had to seek his permission.

Mahima had also alleged that she lost out on Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya just two days prior to her shoot following Subhash Ghai’s statement. The actress said that only four people supported her during that time and no one else. She had stated, “Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, David Dhawan and Rajkumar Santoshi were the only four people who stood by me… Apart from these four people, I didn’t receive a call from anyone else.”

Apart from her film front, the actress has often grabbed the headlines due to her marriage and personal life. She married businessman Bobby Mukherji in 2006 but parted ways in 2013. The actress suffered two miscarriages during that time. Mahima had also confirmed dating tennis player Leander Paes and claimed that he cheated on her with Rhea Pillai (Sanjay Dutt’s ex-wife). The actress is mother to a pretty girl with ex-husband Bobby, who often makes an appearance on the actress’ social media feed.

On the film front, Mahima Chaudhary has been a part of some great films in her career including Pardes, Dhadkan, Dil Hai Tumhaara, LOC Kargil, Baghban, Sandwich, amid others.
