West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday met BCCI president Sourav Ganguly at his residence in Kolkata. On the occasion of Ganguly’s 49th birthday, the West Bengal CM paid a visit to him at his house and wished him good health. Wishes have been pouring in from all corners for the former Indian cricket team captain on his birth anniversary.

Ganguly shares a cordial relationship with Banerjee, who has often heaped praise on the ex-India skipper. Despite being linked to politics over the last couple of years, Ganguly has denied the rumours. However, his latest visit with the Bengal Chief Minister has once again sparked rumours of him potentially entering politics in the coming days.

Banerjee was greeted by Ganguly with a bouquet after she arrived at his Kolkata residence on Thursday. The West Bengal Chief Minister reportedly spent around 45 minutes at the former captain’s residence and was seen sitting alongside Ganguly and his family members at his house.

As per reports, this was the first time Banerjee visited Ganguly’s residence in Kolkata and spent time with his family. The BCCI president celebrated his 49th birthday with his family at home. However, he received wishes from all corners on social media with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, and others queuing up to wish the former India captain

One of the most successful captains to have led India, Ganguly is currently serving as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. He played 113 Tests and 311 ODIs in his international career, amassing over 18,000 returns to retire in 2008 as one of the most prolific batsmen for the Indian team.

Ganguly served as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal for a few years post his retirement before taking over as the BCCI president in 2019.
