Veteran actor Salim Ghouse passes away aged 70

It is a sad day for the industry as the veteran actor, Salim Ghouse, passed away earlier today (April 28, 2022). He was aged 70. The veteran star succumbed to a cardiac arrest. The news about Ghouse’s passing away was confirmed by his wife and now, his fans and peers from the industry are mourning the loss with heartfelt posts.
Ghouse’s wife told the Indian Express that he was experiencing pain in his chest last night (April 27) and was immediately rushed to the hospital.
“We took him to Kokilaben Hospital last night, and he passed away this morning. He hated grieving and wanted life to go on. He didn’t suffer, he wouldn’t have liked being dependent on anyone. He was a man with a lot of self-respect. He was a multifaceted actor, a martial artist, an actor, a director and a lovely chef in the kitchen,” she told the publication.
Ghouse gained popularity from his role in Doordarshan’s TV show, titled Subah and instantly became a household name. He was also a part of Shyam Benegal’s very popular TV series Bharat Ek Khoj where he essayed the role of Rama, Krishna and Tipu Sultan.
As for films, he was known for his performance in Manthan, Kalyug, Chakra, Saaransh co-starring Anupam Kher, Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho, Trikal, Aghaat, Sardari Begum, Koyla, Soldier and others. He started his career in 1978 with the movie Swarg Narak co-starring Vinod Mehra, Jeetendra and Sanjeev Kumar.
Apart from films and TV shows, he was also well-known in the theatre circuit. He dubbed for international projects like The Lion King and 300. He gave the voice for Scar in Hindi and King Leonidas in 300’s Hindi version.
