Varun Dhawan has officially kicked off the shooting for the first schedule of his upcoming patriotic action film, Border 2. Directed by Anurag Singh, known for his previous success Kesari, the film’s first leg is being shot in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.
Border 2 also stars Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty in pivotal roles, with a planned release on Republic Day 2026. Set in the secluded military cantonment areas of Jhansi, the film aims to bring an intense portrayal of heroism, raw emotions, gripping action sequences, and heartfelt drama.
Instagram Sneak Peek From The Sets
The makers shared a glimpse from the sets on Instagram, showing Varun Dhawan posing with producers Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, co-producer Shiv Chanana, and director Anurag Singh. Dressed in a grey T-shirt, blue jeans, a black leather jacket, and sporting a mustache, Varun is seen holding the film’s clapboard with the team. The caption reads: “Action, grit, and patriotism! While Varun Dhawan has begun filming, co-stars Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh are expected to join the project in the upcoming months.

Earlier in August 2024, Varun expressed his excitement about being part of Border 2 on social media. In a heartfelt post on X, he wrote, “Playing a role in Border 2, produced by J P sir and Bhushan Kumar, is a very special moment in my career. Varun Dhawan’s Recent And Upcoming Projects
Varun Dhawan was last seen in the action thriller Baby John, directed by Kalees and produced by Atlee, although the film did not perform well at the box office. He will next appear in the romantic drama Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, alongside Janhvi Kapoor, set to release in April this year.
