Standing firm in our commitment to assist neighbouring countries in these trying times of Covid-19 pandemic, India informed that the central government has recently exported crores of doses of the anti-coronavirus jabs to four countries.
Nepal, Myanmar, Iran and Bangladesh have each received 10 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccines under India’s ‘Vaccine Maitri’ programme, government sources informed.
India is one of the largest contributors to the World Health Organization’s COVAX programme, under which the world’s more affluent countries such as India and the United States, where anti-Covid vaccines are manufactured, contribute to other countries so that there is equitable distribution of the jabs.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya yesterday said that India will manufacture more than 28 crore shots of the coronavirus vaccine in October as it pushes to ramp up supply.
