‘Used to provide internal information of BJP to…’: Political reactions pour in after Mukul Roy, son rejoin TMC

In a big blow to West Bengal BJP, national vice-president Mukul Roy along with son Subranshu rejoined the TMC on Friday, with Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other leaders welcoming him into the party fold.

Reacting to Roy’s ‘ghar wapsi’, BJP MP Arjun Singh called him an “opportunist”.

“Opportunists in politics do this. There was a rift between Abhishek Banerjee and him. He then joined BJP. He’ll keep coming and going. He won an election for the first time, that too on BJP symbol. He should have resigned before going,” said the Barrackpore MP.

He also said that Mukul Roy was never a public leader.

‘Everybody knew that he provided internal information of BJP to TMC’

“In West Bengal, politics can’t be done from AC room. His time in politics is up. Nobody trusts him. Everybody knew that he provides internal information of BJP to TMC. If rivals get to know your planning, it causes you loss,” he added.

Khagen Murmu, another BJP MP from Bengal, said that Roy played a good role in BJP’s organizational work and said that Roy jumping ship will not affect the saffron party.

“Mukul Roy had left TMC and joined BJP before me. He played a good role in our party’s organisational work with proper respect. Today I got to know that he returned to TMC. It’s totally his matter. He can say about it. But it will never impact our party,” he said.

‘Mukul Roy ditched the world’s biggest Miscall party’

Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi asked if the Central agencies will change their stand in the Narada investigation.

Indian Youth Congress president Srinivas B.V. took a dig at the BJP saying Roy has ditched the world’s largest miscall party.

“BJP National Vice-President Mukul Roy has now ditched the world’s biggest Miscall party. How’s the josh Mr. Master Stroke,” he said in a tweet.

Welcoming Roy to the party, TMC said, “Warmly welcoming the National Vice-President of BJP, Shri Mukul Roy, into the Trinamool family. We understand the multiple challenges he faced in BJP. We look forward to this new journey whereby we can work in unison, prioritizing the well-being of the people of India.”
