Almost everybody in Karnataka is well aware of Upendra’s political outfit Uttama Prajakeeya. Yes, the star founded his own political party a few years back and is constantly working on it in order to make it a powerful party in the future and serve the people in the true sense.
This particular quality of Upendra’s love to serve the people and political interest can be seen in his thematic representation of Indian politics and society in his films.
For the last few days, Upendra has been quite busy distributing groceries to the needy, purchasing crops from the farmers, and arranging aid for daily-wage workers of the Kannada cinema.
The actor has also been busy on social media and thanking all the persons, organizations who are helping the actor in his good cause.
Recently, the actor took to his social media account to reiterate yet again that he wants to remain a ‘CM’ to serve the people. Though one might confuse that he wants to become the Chief Minister of the state, his actual desire is to be the ‘Common Man’ of the people.
In his lengthy post, he has written, “I am Upendra. I want to be CM of this state. Will you elect me if I contest in the election? See, I am doing social service! I am buying direct from farmers, distributing it free to the needy… I will also fight vigorously during elections, scream about ruling party, opposition party’s failures and ask you to elect me.. I will work for your bright future, will work day-and-night for making Karnataka the greatest state.. can you elect me?? I don’t know if you will elect me or not, but I won’t contest in election. Then, you may ask why we need Uttama Prajakeeya Party?.. Rajakeeya gives people that become leaders by fame. Prajakeeya does not make leaders…”
He further added, “Here, common people, not necessarily famous, will stand in elections.. if you vote for them and give the job of representing you, they will do the job you want, give you account for every paisa with complete transparency If they don’t follow SOP, or if you are not happy with their performance,. or if they want to change to another party.. I Upendra will be with you, as your CM.. I will fight alongside you until that person is ousted.. let there be a few extra elections if required to fix this system! There should be a provision to stand down (recall) a representative in law. For that power, I will be permanent with you, a permanent CM (Common Man). No no.. I will be one of all of you, the extraordinary common people.”
Upendra is one of those few actors of the Kannada film industry who are multitalented with the motive of serving the people through politics or futuristic plans just like Ambareesh and Shankar Nag.
Upendra is best known for his movies like Shhh, A, Upendra, and Om. Apart from directing films, he has proved his talent in acting as well, giving several Kannada hits.
