Ahead of Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday hit out at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath saying that he is running the government in the state against the teachings of Guru Gorakhnath.

Addressing a ‘Pratigya Rally’ in Gorakhpur, considered as CM Adityanath’s bastion, the Congress leader alleged that the state government is attacking the people on a daily basis, while the Dalits, minorities and others are being exploited in the state.

“Dalits, weavers, OBCs, the poor, minorities and Brahmins have been exploited. Ji is running the Govt against the teachings of Guru Gorakhnath. This Govt is attacking people on a daily basis,” ANI quoted Priyanka Gandhi as saying.

She also attacked the BJP-led government in the state over the Lakhimpur violence.

“The way farmers were murdered in Lakhimpur Kheri and the fact no one heard their plights show the reality of this Govt. It shows how no one is ready to listen to farmers’ plight in the country,” she said.

Priyanka Gandhi had launched her campaign with a rally from Varanasi, which is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency, on October 10.

She has changed the political narrative in Uttar Pradesh to an extent by announcing 40 per cent reservation of tickets for women. The Congress general secretary plans to override caste discrimination with gender politics.

Priyanka targets SP, BSP

During her address, the Congress leader targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) says they don’t stand with people in times of need.

“They (SP & BSP) say Congress is working in collusion with BJP. I want to ask: why don’t they stand with you in your tough times. Only Congress is fighting. I will die but never have any kind of relationship with BJP,” Priyanka said.

Bhupesh Baghel launches attack on BJP

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel also addressed the rally in Gorakhpur and hit out at the BJP-led government in the state over a range of issues.

“Our daughters not only sweep floors but also become Laxmi Bai and Durga when the need arises. When a need arises to sacrifice oneself for the nation, they become even Indira Gandhi. I’d like to tell Yogi Adityanath that she’ll sweep off BJP from Purvanchal, from the entire UP,” Baghel said.
