UP Govt Extends Liquor Shop Hours: New Year Update For Consumers

In a significant announcement for alcohol enthusiasts in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has decided to extend the operating hours of liquor shops during the festive season. On December 24, 25, and 31, all liquor stores will remain open until 11 PM, an hour longer than the usual closing time of 10 PM.

This decision was made by the Excise Department to accommodate the increased demand for alcohol during Christmas and New Year celebrations. District Excise Officer Mahendra Pratap Singh confirmed the new timings, stating that this change is specifically for these festive occasions.

The official order specifies that all retail liquor outlets will operate from 10 AM to 11 PM on these dates. This extension is expected to enhance the festive spirit, allowing residents more time to purchase their favorite beverages for celebrations.

The move comes as part of a broader strategy by the Uttar Pradesh government to boost revenue from liquor sales while catering to public demand during significant holidays. As the festive season approaches, many are looking forward to enjoying their celebrations with this added convenience.
