Ready to tame Russian aggression in the sky, Ukrainian pilots flew Mirage 2000-5F for the first time over Ukraine after Ukraine received it from France in early February this year. A video of the fighter jet is seen on social media. Kyiv has already US-built F-16 fighter jets, and now the country has bolstered its strengths with these fighter jets.
The Ukrainian pilots took training in France in the middle of 2024. They spent months getting full control of the jet now roaring in the skies to counter Russian aggression.
France delivered an upgraded version of fighter jets that fulfill the needs of Ukraine. The jets are equipped with anti-electronic warfare systems and air-to-ground capabilities, which have similarities with the NATO defense equipment.
Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said the mirage deliveries were a “dangerous escalation”. He warned that would lead to friction between Russia and NATO.
Mirage 2000-5 is a compact powerhouse in itself. The fighter jet measures 47 feet, 1 inch long with a 29-foot, 11-inch wingspan, and has an empty weight of 7699 kilograms.
Meanwhile, The Trump administration has paused military aid to Ukraine following a verbal clash between US President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office.
Trump warned that the Ukrainian leader “won’t be around very long” if progress was not made on a peace deal. Without taking names, Trump hinted that the Ukrainian leader “won’t be around very long” without a ceasefire deal with Russia.
