United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday got married to his fiancee Carrie Symonds in a secret ceremony, reported Sun newspaper.

According to reports, the ceremony took place at Westminster Cathedral and was attended by some 30 guests, including the couple’s son Wilfred, who was born on April 29, 2020.

The bride and groom walked down the aisle to classical music and kissed after exchanging vows, said reports.

As per eyewitnesses, the cathedral was closed for half an hour during the ceremony. “They looked besotted,” the newspaper quoted one of the employees of the cathedral as saying.

The wedding ceremony was expected to take place on July 30, 2022, however, the date was moved on short notice.Johnson, 56, and Symonds, 33, have been living together in Downing Street since Johnson became prime minister in 2019.

The couple has been in the spotlight in recent weeks amid a scandal over the costly redecoration of their Downing Street flat, which is being probed by watchdogs over allegations that contributions by a Tory party donor were not declared fully.

Johnson’s new ethics advisor concluded Friday that he had acted “unwisely” over the flat funding arrangements, but was not guilty of any impropriety.

It should be noted that this is the third wedding for the Prime Minister while it is the first for Carrie Symonds.

Johnson’s last marriage was to Marina Wheeler, a lawyer. They had four children together but announced in September 2018 that they had separated.
