An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Chatroo, Kishtwar district, on Sunday. Security forces have cordoned off the area as reinforcements continue. Currently two terrorists have been neutralised and arms recovered as hunt continues.

Indian Army’s White Knight Corps in an X post informed about the ongoing operation Trashi- I, and the established contact with terrorists, security forces have neutralised two terrorist in the ongoing operations. In the post White Knight Corps said, “Displaying tactical precision, seamless synergy and resolute aggression, troops dominated the encounter site wherein two terrorists have been successfully neutralised including 02 x AK-47 rifles have also been recovered.”

Along with J&K police and CRPF, the Indian army launchedOperation  TRASHI-I in Kishtwar’s Dolgam village, similar to current ops, where 3 soldiers were injured on Jan 31 after re-contacting trapped JeM terrorists following the Jan 18 clash that killed Havildar Gajendra Singh.

Earlier the corps informed about established contact with terrorists in a similar X post saying, “Firefight is on. Troops have cordoned off the area.”

Joint teams tracked the group over 12 days across tough Chatroo-Sonnar terrain; ops continue amid rising JeM infiltration from Pakistan.

The development comes after an intelligence alert was issued in the national capital after warnings of a potential terrorist threat near the Red Fort, with sources indicating that a temple in the Chandni Chowk area could be a target.

Security intels warned that targeted attacks at key religious spots near Red Fort and in Chandni Chowk are still targets for Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

On February 21, security forces also detected a suspected IED in a bag on the Ganderbal-Safapora road. Third such incident in North Kashmir last week after Baramulla/Kupwara, highlighting terrorists’ tactics.

Earlier today, in a different operation, police arrested eight suspects from Tamil Nadu and West Bengal in a joint operation for plotting a major terror attack backed by Pakistan’s ISI and Bangladesh terror groups.

The module, including a Bangladeshi national using fake Aadhaar cards, posted “Free Kashmir” propaganda in Delhi and was foiled before larger strikes.

Under the operation, the six accused—Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Litan, Mohammad Shahid, and Mohammed Ujjal- were nabbed from garment units in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur district, while two others were arrested from West Bengal.
