India won the T20 World Cup 2024 title under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. After winning the title, Rohit Sharma retired from T20 International cricket. However, Rohit is still the captain of the ODI and Test team. Although Rohit has said he wants to play more, considering his age, Rohit is at the twilight of his cricket career.

Now the question arises: Who will be Team India’s captain in all three formats after Rohit? Well, in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shubman Gill have been seen captaining Team India. But now the former Indian legend has named two players who can be the captain of Team India in the future.

Dinesh Karthik Suggests Two Names

When the former India wicketkeeper batter, Dinesh Karthik was asked about the future captain of the Indian team in all three formats, he said on Cricbuzz, “The names of two players come straight to my mind. Those who are young and have the ability can captain Team India in the future.” Karthik further replied, first Rishabh Pant and second Shubman Gill.

Karthik says that both those players captain the IPL. Shubman Gill has captained the Indian team. I think with time he will have a chance to become the captain of the Indian team in all three formats.

Currently, Shubman Gill is also captaining in Duleep Trophy 2024. He has been made the captain of the India A team. On the Sri Lanka tour, Gill was made the vice-captain of Team India in both ODI and T20 series. In such a situation, there is speculation that Gill may become the captain of the Indian team after Rohit Sharma in the future.
