Twitterati can’t keep calm as BCCI shares Rahul Dravid’s picture from India’s training session in Colombo

Such is the Indian cricket team’s strength that the BCCI can field as many as three teams parallely. While fielding three teams simultaneously remains a distant dream, the Indian cricket board is set to field two teams parallelly. While Virat Kohli-led India remain in the United Kingdom for the five Tests versus England from August-September, Shikhar Dhawan-led India’s white-ball specialists are in Sri Lanka for three ODIs and as many T20Is.

Dhawan & Co. left for the island nation earlier this week and have started training already. The BCCI shared pictures from their training session, which also featured Rahul Dravid. Dravid is the stand-in head coach for the Sri Lanka tour. While fans got to see a glimpse of Dravid, India’s former captain and batting star, many cannot keep calm as they want to catch more of Dravid from Sri Lanka with the former cricketer commencing his new role, i.e. of the head coach of the senior men’s cricket team in the island nation.

Ahead of the Sri Lanka tour, Dravid-Dhawan had addressed the media in a virtual presser. The 48-year-old Dravid had opined on the youngsters and said, “I think it’s probably going to be unrealistic to expect us in a short tour like this we three ODIs and T20Is to give everyone an opportunity. We’ll come up with what we think is the best combination to try and win the series. And then see along the way, I mean surely there are a lot of young kids even if they don’t play, it’s a great opportunity for them to learn from seniors like Shikhar Bhuvi.”

Earlier, it was under Dravid’s coaching when India’s U-19 team had won the ICC World Cup in early 2018 in New Zealand. It will be interesting to see how the senior and young players respond and flourish under him in the forthcoming Sri Lanka series.
