Turkey President  Recep Tayyip Erdoğan extended full sport to Pakistan during India-Pakistan tensions. But, the latest report suggested that there is a motive behind Turkey’s step to back Pakistan. Following China’s line of interest in the Indian Ocean, Turkey is also looking for a spaceport to test ballistic missiles.

Turkey is in talks with Somalia

The report cites that Turkey is in talks with Somalia to build a spaceport near the Horn of Africa. As part of its expanding space programme, Turkey aims to use the strategic location to test ballistic missiles and strengthen its regional influence.

Pakistan may join Turkey’s ballistic missile programmes

However, India would not be impacted by Turkey’s new project, but it has put weight behind Pakistan may bring tension for India. According to Resonantnews.com, Pakistan may join Turkey’s ballistic missile programmes in the future.  Turkey is aiming to increase its influence in the Indian Ocean and is already supplying drones to African nations, including Pakistan.

Turkey’s geographical location binds it with several obligations, and the country can’t run such programmes. It is the reason, Turkey is looking for a space that gives it a strategic advantage and which makes an ideal situation for the country.

Turkey will spend $350 million

According to the report, Turkey wants to establish a spaceport in Jamamme Dune. Erdogan announced the space program worth $ 1 billion in 2021. It is expected Turkey will spend $350 million on the construction and maintenance of the spaceport.

If Turkey comes up with the space base project on the ground, it could be strategically challenging for India in the future. Turkey and China’s support for Pakistan is alarming for India; they could pose a threat to the country.
