The Turkish Air Force  reportedly launched strikes against the Kurdish militant group PKK in Iraq and Syria, destroying at least 30 targets in a retaliatory action. The defense ministry, however, did not provide further details but said ‘all kinds of precautions’ have been taken to prevent civilian damage.

The airstrike comes hours after Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS), located near Ankara, came under attack. Five people including the attackers were killed, and over 20 were reportedly injured in the attack.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday night commented on the recent terror attack against TAI, a major organization in Turkey’s defense industry. He labeled the strike as a “vile attack” on the country’s survival, peace, and defense initiatives” that are part of the symbol of “Fully Independent Turkey,” Ideal.

Erdogan said, “From the first moment of the terrorist attack, our security forces quickly intervened and neutralized the terrorists.”

He further pointed out, “Our nation should know that the dirty hands reaching out to Turkey will be broken; no structure, no terrorist organization, no evil focus targeting our security will be able to achieve their goals.” He concluded by extending his best wishes to the nation and the dedicated employees of TAI.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed that three people were killed and 14 others were injured during the violent attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries.
