Trump Expresses Doubt Over Possible Ceasfire, Says ‘Very Hard To Stop’ Israel’s Strikes On Iran

US President Donald Trump has expressed doubt regarding a possible ceasefire between Israel and Iran, asserting that it would be “very hard to stop” Israel’s strikes on Iran.

“I think it’s very hard to make that request right now.” While Trump did speak in favour of a ceasefire, he said Israel’s strikes on Iran could be “very hard to stop when you look at it.” “Israel’s doing well in terms of war. And, I think, you would say that Iran is doing less well. It’s a little bit hard to get somebody to stop,” HT quoted Trump as saying.

This statement came a day after Trump said that he needs two weeks to decide whether the United States will get involved in the Israel-Iran conflict or not.

“Based on the fact that there’s a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt quoted Trump as saying.

Trump has reportedly opened a two-week window for diplomacy to restart talks with Iran over its nuclear program before deciding on military action. As per media reports, Trump and his advisors are positive that this time Iran may drop its uranium enrichment program amidst the ongoing conflict with Israel.

In a related development, US President Donald Trump on Friday presided over a national security meeting regarding the Iran situation at the White House, as per media reports

Meanwhile, Israel on Saturday claimed that it has pushed back Iran’s presumed nuclear programme by a minimum of two years.

The conflict between Israel and Iran entered its ninth day on Saturday. The conflict began when Israel attacked Iran on June 13 as part of its military operation named “Operation Rising Lion.” Iran retaliated by launching a large-scale drone and missile attack under its military operation called ‘Operation True Promise 3’.
