Trump boots South Africa from G20 2026, Cites alleged attacks on white population; Subsidies withdrawn

US President Donald Trump has issued a strong statement against South Africa. He said the United States did not attend the recent G20 summit in South Africa because his government does not recognize what he calls human rights violations committed by African people and descendants of European settlers. In a tweet, Trump claimed that white people are being killed and their farms are being taken away.

South Africa Excluded from G20 2026

Trump announced that South Africa will not be invited to the G20 summit in 2026, which is scheduled to take place next year in Miami, Florida. He said South Africa has shown it is unworthy of G20 membership and added that all payments and subsidies to the country would stop immediately.

The G20 summit last week was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, and attended by many world leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the United States did not send any delegation. Trump also claimed that South Africa refused to hand over the G20 presidency to a US Embassy representative during the closing ceremony.

South Africa Rejects Trump’s Claims

The South African government rejected Trump’s allegations. President Cyril Ramaphosa called the US decision regrettable and said his administration has always worked to maintain diplomatic relations with the United States. South Africa also clarified that since the US was not present at the summit, the G20 presidency documents were handed over to a US Embassy official at South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that white minorities and farmers in South Africa are being persecuted, including allegations of genocide. These claims have been denied by both the South African government and the country’s white community leaders.
