Vidarbha captain Karun Nair has managed to smash another century in the Ranji Trophy and this time leading the charge like a true leader by hitting this century in the finals. Coming in at Number 4 after the openers for Vidarbha being dismissed in just the initial 14 deliveries, Nair faced the situation substantially with Dinesh Malewar constructing an exceptional partnership. They both had built up a 215-run partnership in the first innings also. Nair brilliant century came in 184 balls restricting Kerala to make a comeback.

Domestic performance

Karun Nair has been featured in 4 Ranji Trophy tournaments since 2013-14 when he first appeared for Karnataka and this is his second century in Ranji Trophy. He completed the 8000 runs milestone in his first innings in 152 matches. For the first time, Nair has completed 800 runs for this season for the first time. With 5 centuries in 7 innings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy last month, Nair scored 752 runs and captured everyone’s attention. Nair continued his brilliant form during the Ranji Trophy season as well by scoring a hundred against both Hyderabad and Tamil Nadu in the quarterfinals bringing his first class century tally to 22.

Still out of playing 11?

Karun Nair has been acquired by Delhi Capitals in last year’s mega auction. The former Karnataka batter was secured in 50 lakhs for the 2025 IPL season. Nair has a previous experience for the playing with the Capitals, Royal Challengers, Punjab Kings, and the Royals in the past which showcases his prowess in the shortest format of the game. While initially not being considered as the first choice in the playing 11, his current outstanding form across all formats makes him a potential choice for the IPL franchise and gives him more opportunities in the upcoming season.
