Tirupati Laddu Row: Supreme Court To Hear On Monday Petitions On Alleged Use Of Animal Fat In ‘Prasadam’

The Supreme Court will reportedly hear petitions on Monday over allegations of animal fat being used to make the world-famous Tirupati ‘Prasadam.’

The allegations began after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu claimed that sub-standard ingredients like animal fat were used to make the traditional prasadam at the Sri Venkateswara temple during the previous YSRCP government.

According to reports, the petition filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman YV Subba Reddy, demanded a public disclosure and thorough investigation into the matter.

Reacting to the Tirupati Laddu Row, YSRCP leader Jagan Mohan Reddy slammed Naidu for ‘flagrant lying’ while stating that ghee tendering is a routine e-tender that has been done for decades.

BJP leader Swamy has demanded an investigation into the alleged use of animal fat in making laddus and appealed to the Supreme Court to direct the Andhra Pradesh government to provide a detailed report on the origin and purity of the ghee used.
