The Ultimate Unlucky XI: Stars Who’ve NEVER Won An IPL Trophy! Ft. Virat Kohli

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the prestigious tournament in the world where each and every player around the world wants to participate in this elite league. We’ve seen players who became legends of the game won IPL title.

But in the same time, we’ve seen some elite and legendary players who haven’t won a single IPL title.

Take a look at the unlucky playing XI, who never clinched any IPL title:

Virender Sehwag

The former swashbuckling Indian batter, Virender Sehwag was one of the most destructive batters of all time. He was famous for his power-hitting and smashing every first ball for a boundary or sixes. Sehwag is one of the unfortunate players who haven’t won any IPL title.

Chris Gayle

One of the explosive batters of all time and the former IPL legend, Chris Gayle was one of the best entertainer the cricketing world has every witnessed. Despite showing his prowess in every IPL season and playing finals for 3-times, Gayle couldn’t achieve the tag of “IPL Winner”.

Virat Kohli

One of the face of the world cricket, Virat Kohli is one of the best batters of the modern era. Being the highest run-scorer in the IPL history, Kholi always shows his brilliance with his all-round skills. Despite showing his 100% dedication on the field, Kohli is bit unlucky in winning the title.

The 2016 edition was the last time Kohli played the finals of the IPL, where RCB lost against the winning-side SRH at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

 

AB de Villiers

Fondly known as “Mr.360”, AB de Villiers was a prominent figures in the IPL history. His playing style was way ahead of his time and because of this, fans often called him “Alien”. Despite achieving a lot of success with the bat on field, AB couldn’t win a single IPL trophy like his fellow teammates Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle.

Ben Stokes

The dashing all-rounder from England and the current English test skipper, Ben Stokes is also one of the unfortunates who haven’t won the IPL title. In 2017, he single-handedly took his side (now defunct, Rising Pune Supergiants) to the finals, where they lost to MI by just 1 run.

Chris Morris

Another Protean player, Chris Morris was a terrific all-rounder of his time and played some brilliant cricket in IPL. Morris is also one of the players who haven’t tasted IPL title success.

Irfan Pathan

The former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan was one of the prolific all-rounders in Indian cricket. Pathan played for several franchises. Unlike his elder brother, Irfan is one of the unfortunate players who haven’t won IPL.

Dale Steyn

The former Protean speed demon, Dale Steyn was one of the most lethal bowlers of the era. His sheer pace with swing, he was one of the best in business. Steyn is also one of the unfortunates who didn’t win IPL title.

Zaheer Khan

Another Indian cricket legend, Zaheer Khan was probably one of the best left-hand bowlers of all time. Despite his good reputation in the game, Zaheer couldn’t win the IPL title.

Amit Mishra

The last on this list is Amit Mishra. Mishra was the first bowler in the IPL to get a hattrick in the history of IPL.
