Terror Alert In Delhi: Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba planning blast near Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, here’s what we know

An intelligence alert has been issued in the national capital after security agencies received inputs about a possible terror threat near the Red Fort in Delhi. According to an ANI report, terrorists may target a temple in the Chandni Chowk area, raising serious concerns about the safety of key religious places in the city.

According to the report, intelligence sources said that areas around the Red Fort and parts of Chandni Chowk are on the radar of Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. The group is suspected to be planning an improvised explosive device (IED) attack. Inputs suggest that a temple in Chandni Chowk could be a potential target.

Sources further claimed that the outfit may be trying to avenge a February 6 blast at a mosque in Islamabad. Officials believe that Lashkar-e-Taiba could be planning a major strike in India in response to that incident. Intelligence agencies have warned that prominent temples across the country could also be targeted.

The alert comes months after a deadly car explosion near the Red Fort on November 10, 2025, which killed 12 people. The blast took place near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station when a car loaded with explosives exploded, setting several nearby vehicles on fire.

The case is currently being investigated by the National Investigation Agency. On February 13, a Special NIA court at Patiala House Court extended the investigation period by 45 days in the November 2025 Delhi blast case. The court also extended the judicial custody of seven accused till March 13.

Security has been tightened in sensitive areas, and agencies are on high alert.
