Pakistani batter Babar Azam’s streak of low scores continued during the AUS vs PAK 2nd T20I match as he got out for a score of 3 runs while his team was chasing down 148 runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground. While there is a chunk of fans which keeps on supporting Babar despite his poor form whereas there is a section who doesn’t want to see the current number one ODI batter in the Pakistan team setup. There have been several videos which have surfaced on the social media in the past in which Babar was seen facing insult from the fans in the stands during a cricket match. Such an incident took place during the AUS vs PAK 2nd T20I 2024 match.

During the AUS vs PAK 2nd T20I 2024, a fan at the Sydney Cricket Ground insulted Babar Azam and shouted ‘Ab Teri Jagah Nahi Ban Rahi Team Mein, Vapas Chala Jaaye’ (Now You Don’t Have A Place In The Team, Go Back). The incident took place when Babar was fielding right on the boundary and in the viral video he could be seen disturbed with the response from the fan. However, earlier, there were scenes from a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match where a fan called him ‘Zimbabar’. Babar looked very furious at the fan after the incident.

Babar Azam has emerged as the top batters in Pakistan cricket in the past few years and once was compared to great player such as Virat Kohli, Joe Root and Steve Smith. However, in the past few years, Babar has only been able to score runs against low ranked teams including Nepal, Zimbabwe, Ireland and others. However, the latter didn’t score when he faced quality attacks such as India, England and Australia. During the period of past two years, he also led Pakistan to failures in ICC tournaments which resulted in him resigning from the captaincy. Babar was also dropped from the side but was added back to the squad in the other series.
