Tempers flare as Virat Kohli swears at James Anderson, draws strong response from Stuart Broad

Tempers flared on the 4th day of the ongoing Lord’s Test match as Virat Kohli swore at James Anderson. While the exact reason for Kohli’s reaction is not known, it is to be noted that Anderson had dismissed him for the first time after 7 years in the opening Test match.

Anderson’s domination over Kohli in 2014 was the biggest talking point of the series and the Indian captain made a strong comeback in 2018 as he scored 593 runs in 5 Tests. Anderson got the upper hand over Kohli in the first Test of the ongoing series

His actions drew a strong response from Stuart Broad, who highlighted Anderson’s supremacy at Lord’s. “The Lord’s honours board suggests it’s as close to Jimmy’s backyard as Jimmy’s actual backyard. Love the fire but that language will have him in trouble,” wrote Broad.

Anderson’s long-time bowling partner, Broad is missing the ongoing Test due to calf injury. He has been ruled out of the ongoing season and is expected to make a comeback in Ashes 2021/22

During the 3rd day’s play as well, Anderson was one of the talking points as pacer Jasprit Bumrah launched a barrage of bouncers on the senior pacer. Anderson had something to say to Bumrah after the end of the day’s play.

Talking of Kohli, the Indian skipper was dismissed on 20 off 31 by Sam Curran before the lunch break. Senior batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane batted well in the first hour after lunch and kept England at bay. The visitors are 77/3 after 40 overs.

India hold a lead of 50 runs. England still have the upper hand and a couple of wickets at this stage will push India on the backfoot.
