Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay has been arrested by Karimnagar Police. According to officials, he had been taken into custody while staging a protest yesterday. The BJP MP has now been sent to 14 days remand by Karimnagar District Court.
Following the development, party president JP Nadda lanbasted officials over the “highly condemnable” incident that he said “murder of democracy”.
“He was peacefully staging a protest following all COVID protocols in his office. Police forcibly entered his office and manhandled him,” said Nadda. The top BJP leader said that the party would take all “legal and democratic recourse” against the arrest.
Hitting out at the K Chandrashekar Rao-led government he contended that they had “gone mad” after seeing the BJP’s victory in recent bypolls and the support the party was receiving in the state.
“Condemn the high handedness of Telangana State Police and the arrest of Shri Bandi Sanjay garu ahead of Jagarana Deeksha,” tweeted Union Minister V Muraleedharan.
