Tejashwi Yadav’s Viral Marine Drive Dance Draws Backlash; BJP Leader Calls It an ‘Act That Promotes Anarchy’

A video of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav dancing with young artists on Patna’s newly-inaugurated Marine Drive” has created a stir in political circles, drawing a strong reaction from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The video, which quickly went viral on social media, was recorded the night after the conclusion of the 16-day Voter Adhikar Yatra.

In the video, Tejashwi Yadav was seen making a reel with some youngsters, dancing in Bollywood style and interacting with police officers. The informal event took place at JP Path, also known as Patna’s Marine Drive. He was seen dancing to the Bhojpuri song ‘Lalu Bina Chalu E Bihar Na Hoi’, dedicated to his father and former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.

The video was shared on social media by Tejashwi Yadav’s sister Rohini Acharya, and it soon made headlines. It was reported that when Tejashwi Yadav was out walking on the expressway with his nephew who had come from Singapore, he saw some youths making videos for social media and enthusiastically joined them. He caught people’s attention by imitating Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan’s famous dance moves. In a moment, he was seen dancing in front of the crowd, and the children were seen cheering him with applause.

However, all this did not go down well with BJP national spokesperson Ajay Alok. He accused Tejashwi Yadav of “promoting anarchy”. Also he sarcastically called Tejashwi a ‘responsible leader’. Demanding action from the Bihar Police, he said, “JP Path is not a picnic spot, if no action is taken on this, the roads across the state will be filled with reel makers.”

Posting in Hindi on X, Ajay Alok wrote, “Only a ‘responsible leader’ of the opposition can do dancing and singing on the road in the middle of the night and make reels. Do you have any idea how many lives have been lost in road accidents while making reels? This is an act that promotes anarchy. JP Path is not a picnic spot. Bihar police Headquarter should take cognizance and take action, else roads will start getting filled with reels across the state.”

On the other hand, Tejashwi Yadav also reacted on social media and wrote, “With ease, simplicity, and grace, we will march in step with the expectations, aspirations, dreams, and hopes of the youth, rising above caste and religion, and pledge to build a new Bihar through a change of government.”

The entire incident came to light when the Voter Adhikar Yatra was nearing its conclusion. The yatra, organised under the leadership of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, covered a distance of nearly 1,300 km, covering 25 districts and over 110 assembly constituencies. It began from Sasaram and concluded with a final padyatra from Gandhi Maidan to Ambedkar Park in Patna.
