Tariffs Won’t Impact IndiGo’s Long-Term Plans, Says CEO Pieter Elbers

IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers expressed his confidence, saying  that the global events triggered by tariff hikes would not impact the air carrier’s long-term plans. While talking to PTI, the CEO said the large domestic market will drive growth for the airlines.

Global Dynamics Won’t Derail Expansion Plans

The CEO said that the global scale and dynamics are not going to deter their expansion plans for the coming year. However, he added that a major economy like India cannot be insulated amid the ongoing tariff wars.

Elbers said the company is looking to double its size by the end of the decade and it will not be affected.

Competitive Airline Vital for India’s Global Aviation Presence

When asked about IndiGo’s strong market share in the Indian aviation sector- with Air India being its only major competitor-CEO Pieter Elbers suggested that having a large, competitive airline would help India hold its own in the global aviation landscape and it would benefit both the airline and the country in the long run.

Fujairah International Airport announced its partnership with IndiGo

Fujairah International Airport has announced its partnership with IndiGo, India’s fastest-growing airline, to launch two direct daily flights to Mumbai and Kannur starting from May 15, 2025.

This new partnership marks a significant milestone in strengthening the ties between the Emirate of Fujairah and the Republic of India, offering travellers more travel options and easier access to new destinations, with a strong commitment to punctuality and well-organized flight schedules.

IndiGo’s expansion into Fujairah Airport is set to offer passengers an improved travel experience with excellent customer service, modern aircraft, and timely schedules
