Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that the state government was taking a calculated risk by relaxing coronavirus-induced relaxations in the state.

The state government decided to initiate a five-phased Unlock 2.0 from June 7, starting with 18 of the state’s 36 districts after nearly two months of strict lockdown-type restrictions.

Aurangabad, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Dhule, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Jalgaon, Jalna, Latur, Nagpur, Nanded, Nashik, Parbhani, Thane, Washim, Wardha and Yavatmal districts will open in the first phase.

The CMO had issued a detailed notification early on Saturday after detailed deliberations of over a week by the state Disaster Management Unit with all other concerned departments and stakeholders.

Thackeray also said that permission for film and TV shootings in Mumbai will be given if the city’s daily COVID-19 case count is brought under control.

The state reported 13,659 new coronavirus cases, 300 deaths and 21,776 discharges on Saturday.

According to the state’s public health department bulletin, the cumulative caseload of the state mounted to 58,19,224 while the recoveries touched 55,28,834. A total of 99,512 persons have succumbed to COVID-19.

Depending on the positivity rate and occupancy of oxygenated beds, the state has been divided into 48 units as per districts and municipal corporations, and five levels.

Mumbai and Pune, which are among the worst-affected, do not find mention in the list yet.

Suburban local trains will not be allowed to open in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad

Suburban local trains will not be allowed to open for the general public in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region of Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad, reported IANS.

Districts which have case positivity rate of 5 per cent or less and occupancy of hospital beds is less than 25 per cent will come under Level 1 category.

These districts will open completely with all activities including transport, shops, restaurants, malls, theatres, cultural events, sports, industries, government and private offices, construction activities, weddings and funerals allowed to function.
