Swapnil Kusale has won the bronze medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) shooting event earning India its third medal at the Paris Olympics.

The 28-year-old Swapnil Kusale secured third place with a score of 195 in the standing position, following scores of 156.8 in the prone position and 153.3 in the kneeling rounds. He had finished seventh in the qualifying round with a total score of 590, including 38 inner 10s. Swapnil has become the first Indian shooter to win an Olympic medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event.

The 50m rifle 3 Positions final consists of three rounds, each with 15 shots in kneeling, prone, and standing positions. Following these rounds, an elimination round is conducted. This is India’s third shooting medal of the Olympics. The first medal was won by Manu Bhaker on Monday, who claimed bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event, becoming the first Indian shooter to win an Olympic medal. Bhaker then made history again on Tuesday by winning another bronze, this time with Sarabjot Singh in the 10m pistol mixed team event. She became the first post-independence Indian athlete to win two medals in a single Olympic edition.
