SRH Vs DC: Hyderabad’s Efforts With Ball Go In Vain As Game Called Off Due To Rain

The IPL 2025 Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) versus Delhi Capitals (DC) match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium was terminated due to heavy rainfall, which began during the innings interval. One point went each way for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals, leading to significant playoff consequences that knocked SRH out of contention but made it progressively difficult for DC to reach the top four.

As the team captain, Pat Cummins set the momentum for Sunrisers Hyderabad when they decided to open the game by bowling first after winning the toss. The Sunrisers Hyderabad captain showed great form by taking three vital wicket catches of Karun Nair, Abishek Porel and Faf du Plessis to leave Delhi Capitals powerless in the opening overs. Harshal Patel intensified the situation by eliminating Axar Patel but Jaydev Unadkat sent KL Rahul back to the pavilion. The Sunrisers Hyderabad batting order suffered two crucial events when Vipraj Nigam got run out during a mix-up with other batsmen and Eshan Malinga brought Ashutosh Sharma’s promising innings to an end with 41 runs from 29 balls.

Defender Tristan Stubbs provided additional batting support to Delhi Capitals when he accumulated 41 runs in partnership with the Capitals to finish their 20 over innings at 133/7 on a challenging fielding condition. The match had to be suspended due to rain when SRH walked in to bat for their chase. The game cancellation occurred after match officials stopped the match because weather conditions failed to show any improvement.

Sunrisers Hyderabad ended their playoff prospects following their seventh-place position after their 11 matches. Delhi Capitals needs to win two of their remaining three matches to qualify for the playoffs since they currently hold position 13 with 13 points from 11 games. Hyderabad’s elimination occurred during the washout, which has brought high drama to the Delhi Capitals’ final three matches in IPL 2025.
