The much-awaited fourth film in Rohit Shetty’s copverse has finally hit theatres after multiple delays owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer which was initially slated for release in March 2020, was delayed for over 19 months due to the pandemic.
The first major film to make its way to national theatres post the pandemic, and the first major film to hit theatres in Maharashtra after the state government gave its nod to cinema screening, all eyes are on the film to see how it revives the box ofice. As per the film’s trailer, the film follows Akshay Kumar’s cop Sooryavanshi as he tries to stop a terrorist group from attacking Mumbai. The film has extended cameos by Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh, the heroes from his previous films Singham and Simmba.
Ahead of the film’s release Rohit Shetty has shared the last update informing fans that film is set to release in all multiplexes and single-screen theatres. Akshay Kumar too stated his excitement, writing, “I’ve done a lot of action in my career…hanging from helicopters, jumping across buildings, crazy bike chases. #Sooryavanshi is special to me in more ways than one, it is my ode to that old school action but on a grander scale, releasing in cinemas tomorrow #1DayToSooryavanshi #BackToCinemas.”
