Singer Sona Mohapatra is not just known for her singing calibre but also for how she voices her opinions on the most pressing issues. She often uses Twitter as a platform to share her thoughts. Sona took to Twitter and lashed out at TV channels who have allegedly ‘sneaked in’ A-listed singers who have been reportedly accused of sexual misconduct in the past.

She shared a series of two tweets on Twitter. The first one could be read, “In all the death, despair & scrambling to stay afloat in this pandemic, TV channels have made a considered decision to sneak in serial sexual predators called out by multiple women in the public domain & put them on the chair. This is not my shame #India . Its on @NCWIndia & you.”

In her trail tweet, she named Anu Malik, Kailash Kher and tagged the official account of the National Commission for Women, and tweeted, “Anu Malik,Kailash Kher had even minors on their lists of women who spoke up about being sexually harassed & assaulted. I have details of the legal docs sent by women to @NCWIndia from abroad even. They received no response. These men are confident that #India doesn’t care about us.”

Sona Mohapatra’s tweet has received an array of likes, retweets and comments from Twitteratis. The same has probably come in after Anu Malik is back on Indian Idol 12 as a judge after stepping down in 2018.

Not just this, Sona has often talked about trolls, body shaming and other important issues that need a voice. Sometime back, we managed to have a candid tete-a-tete with the Ambarsariya singer. We asked her if she has ever lost out on work because of being her unapologetic best. She went on to reveal, “Of course, I have lost out on work but I have also found the kind of work that really suits me.”

She also recalled in an instance wherein she was asked to leave a show overnight because of her opinions. “Overnight I was asked to leave Sa Re Ga Ma, the television show and I was the first female judge in 23 years. The first person to bear the brunt of being vocal was me. I was asked to leave in 24 hours. But it pained me, my team, hell of a lot at that point of time but we got over it and we got back with a bang,” revealed Sona.
