Lockie Ferguson, the key fast bowler from New Zealand has been ruled from the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The star bowler has sustained a calf injury in the 2nd T20I. Ferguson will now be returning home and he’ll further be looking into how serious the injury is. Gary Stead, the head coach of New Zealand team was absolutely “gutted” after knowing about Ferguson’s injury.

Gary Stead “Gutted” After Ferguson Gets Ruled Out

Adam Milne has been named as the replacement of Lockie Ferguson after he has sustained a calf injury in the 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka.

“We’re gutted for Lockie. He showed in the space of just two overs what an asset he is with the ball, and he’s also brought a lot of leadership to this group, so he’ll be a big miss heading into an important ODI series for us,” Stead said.

“To be ruled out so early in a tour is always tough to take, but we’re hopeful his recovery will be short, and he’ll be back out on the field in no time. Adam is a like-for-like replacement who brings genuine pace and plenty of international experience, so we’re looking forward to welcoming him into the group,” Stead added.

Lockie Ferguson: An Asset For New Zealand

The first ODI between New Zealand and Sri Lanka will be starting from November 13, Wednesday at Pallekele International Stadium.

Lockie Ferguson recently became the 5th bowler in Men’s T20I to bag a hat-trick. It was his magical spell of 2-0-7-2 that paved way for New Zealand’s dashing victory. The Kiwis defended a low score of 108 in the 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka.
