After much anticipation, Aamir Khan has finally revealed the release date of his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par. In a conversation with Pinkvilla, the actor shared the news that the film will release on June 20, 2025.

Aamir Khan also talked about the film’s story, saying that it will address the theme of mental health, “When you see my character, you’ll understand what I mean.” Khan added.

While talking with The Hollywood Reporter India, Khan termed Sitaare Zameen Par as ‘a beautiful story’ and spoke about its humour. Taare Zameen Par was a story of a child with dyslexia, where the actor was seen helping the boy; however, in his upcoming film, “it’s the 10 people with challenges who help me, the supposedly normal person.” Khan added.

In another interview, Aamir further explained that, unlike Taare Zameen Par, which was an emotional film, Sitaare Zameen Par is going to be a lighthearted one, yet it will share a strong message. Her daughter, Ira Khan, also disclosed that the film’s story centres around “neurodivergent peer support.”

Sitaare Zameen Par is directed by R. S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan & Kiran Rao. The cast of the film includes Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh. The film has taken its inspiration from the 2018 Spanish film Champions, which is a sports comedy-drama.

Sitaare Zameen Par is a sequel to Aamir Khan’s 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, which was directed and produced by Aamir himself. Taare Zameen Par aka TZP was written by Amole Gupte featuring Aamir Khan, Darsheel Safary, Tisca Chopra, Vipin Sharma and Tanay Chheda. The film was praised worldwide for its beautiful story. It was a massive success in 2007 and was India’s official entry at the 81st Academy Awards.

On the work front, Aamir Khan will be appearing in a cameo role in the upcoming film Coolie, which will be releasing on August 14, 2025. Khan was last seen in the 2022 film, Laal Singh Chaddha, opposite Kareena Kapoor.
