Shiv Sena will contest all elections in future, our party needed in all states: Aaditya Thackeray

Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray  said that his party will contest all elections in the future, right from panchayat level to general elections.

“In time to come, we will contest all polls, be it Lok Sabha polls, Vidhan Sabha polls or Gram Panchayat polls. Shiv Sena is needed in all states,” Thackeray said.

The Shiv Sena leader further said that “good governance” in Maharashtra should be replicated in all states.

Thackeray made the statement while launching the digital manifesto of his party for the Assembly elections in Goa, voting for which will take place on February 14.

He further said that Sena could not focus on Goa earlier due to its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), but after the latter “back-stabbed”, his party has now decided to contest all future polls in the coastal state.

“Shiv Sena had not concentrated on Goa in the past due to its friendship with BJP. But considering the political developments, in which BJP back-stabbed Sena, we have decided to contest all future elections in Goa…Goa needs Shiv Sena,” he added.

“This election is not about the future of Shiv Sena, but about the locals and their future,” the Maharashtra minister said, PTI reported.

The Shiv Sena is contesting the Assembly polls in the coastal state in alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Both the parties share power in the state along with Congress as part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.

The Sena has fielded 10 candidates for the 40-member Goa Assembly, while NCP is contesting on 13 seats.

In the previous Assembly polls in the coastal state in 2017, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party fielded three candidates and drew a blank in all three.
