Members of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s team, who arrived in India on Monday to escape a violent uprising against the Awami League government, have started departing for other destinations, according to top government sources.

Sheikh Hasina, along with her sister Sheikh Rehana and her close associates, traveled to India in a military transport jet, landing at Hindon airbase near Delhi.

Urgent Evacuation

The team arrived in India in a state of significant distress, having been forced to flee Bangladesh quickly to evade mobs that had even breached the Prime Minister’s residence, according to government sources.

Due to their hasty departure from Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina and her associates were unable to bring extra clothes or daily necessities, as reported by government sources

Immediate Support and Refuge

The protocol office staff assigned to the Bangladeshi entourage assisted them in purchasing clothing and essential items.

India has granted Sheikh Hasina temporary refuge while she seeks asylum in another country. Indian security personnel and protocol officers are providing support to help the entourage cope with their stress and shock, according to sources.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was the first to arrive and meet with Sheikh Hasina and her entourage. During their discussion, they covered both current matters and future plans regarding the ousted Prime Minister.
