In a significant update, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Monday morning announced that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon on November 27 was violated. Israel Air Force (IAF) jets on Monday night attacked terrorists, Hezbollah operatives, and dozens of rocket launchers across Lebanon.
The wave of airstrikes comes in response to two projectiles launched by Hezbollah toward the area of Har Dov. IDF said that the projectiles fell in open areas and no injuries were reported. Additionally, IAF fighter jets attacked the launcher used to fire the two mortars at Mount Dov in Israel, shortly after the strike.
IDF announced on X, “Hezbollah’s launches tonight constitute a violation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon. The State of Israel demands that the relevant parties in Lebanon fulfill their responsibilities and prevent Hezbollah’s hostile activity from within Lebanese territory. The State of Israel remains obligated to the fulfillment of the conditions of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.”
IDF will continue operating wherever necessary in a bid to defend Israeli civilians, it said. The barrage was the first since the ceasefire came into effect.
Netanyahu Reacts To Hezbollah’s Attack
In response to Hezbollah’s firing at Mount Do, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said, “The Attack constitutes a serious violation of the cease-fire, and Israel will respond strongly to this. We are determined to continue to enforce the ceasefire, and to respond to any violation by Hezbollah-minor or serious.”
