‘Series Might Have Been More One-Sided’ – Glenn McGrath Explains Jasprit Bumrah’s Influence In BGT Series

Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has proved out to be a lone warrior for the India national cricket team with the ball in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The latter has picked up 30 wickets from four matches at an average of 12.82. However, despite so much effort with the ball, the Indian team is still trailing by 2-1 in the five-match series as other bowlers apart from Bumrah haven’t been able to step up whereas the batting lineup has been a complete flop leaving two or three players.

Glenn McGrath’s Brutal Reality Check To Team India

Former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath while speaking to PTI has given a brutal reality check to the India national cricket team. McGrath stated that if Jasprit Bumrah wouldn’t have been there on the Indian side, the BGT would have been completely one-sided. McGrath also heaped praise on the Indian pace spearhead and added that he is a terrific young player who has found a way to adapt.

Glenn McGrath said, “He has been a massive part of the Indian team and without him, the series might have been more one-sided and what he does is special. Terrific young guy who has found a way to adapt. Absolutely incredible how he powers into bowl the last few steps. Got a little bit of hyperextension which I used to have as well. He is coping with it and has incredible control both ways, guess they are managing him well. I am a massive fan of Jasprit.”

The India vs Australia fifth Test is all set to begin from January 3 at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. The Indian team will look forward to winning the match and leveling the series by 2-2 to give themselves a chance of making it into the final of the World Test Championship.
