Veteran actor Dilip Kumar has been discharged from the hospital. The 98-year-old actor was hospitalised a few days back due to ‘breathlessness’. On June 6, he was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion and was put on oxygen support.

News Agency ANI shared the update on Twitter, writing, actor Dilip Kumar discharged from Mumbai’s PD Hinduja Hospital. They further quoted the actor’s wife Saira Banu as saying, “We are very happy. Fluid has been removed from his lungs. He is going home now. We thank all the supporters for the prayers.”

Paps clicked the veteran actor being ferried out of the hospital on a stretcher, even managing to click a tender moment between the veteran actor and his wife when she scooped down to kiss him on his forehead.

Earlier, family friend Faisal Farooqui had taken to Dilip Kumar’s official Twitter handle and shared the news of his discharge from hospital, writing, “With your love and affection, and your prayers, Dilip Saab is going home from the hospital. God’s infinite mercy and kindness through Drs. Gokhale, Parkar, Dr. Arun Shah and the entire team at Hinduja Khar.”

Meanwhile, following the actor’s hospitalisation, rumours started surfacing on his deteriorating health conditions. Saira Banu urged everyone not to believe in rumours surrounding the actor’s health.

She wrote, “Past few days my beloved husband, Yousuf Khan, has been unwell and recuperating at a hospital in Mumbai. Through this note, I want to thank all of you for keeping him in your prayers and for all the love and affection. My husband, my Kohinoor, our Dilip Kumar Sahab’s health is stable and doctors have assured me that he should be discharged soon. I urge you to not believe in rumors. While I ask you to pray for Sahab’s health, I am praying that the Almighty keep all of you safe and healthy during this pandemic. Sincerely Saira Banu Khan.”

The veteran actor who was admitted to the hospital for the second time in two months, lost two of his younger siblings last year to COVID-19 and had not celebrated his birthday in December.
