External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held telephonic conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S V Lavrov. The ministers discussed about the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed 26 lives on April 22. Along with this, they spoke about bilateral cooperation activities between the two nations. Lavrov called for settling the differences between New Delhi and Islamabad by political and diplomatic means on a bilateral basis, stated Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia said in an X post.
MFA Russia wrote on X, “On May 2, Sergey #Lavrov & @DrSJaishankaR spoke over the phone. Russia’s FM called for settling the differences between New Delhi & Islamabad by political and diplomatic means on a bilateral basis.”
What The Ministers Discussed?
The foreign ministers discussed topical issues of Russian-Indian interaction along with exasperation of Indian-Pakistani relations following Pahalgam terror attack, stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
“Sergey Lavrov called to settle the differences between New Delhi and Islamabad by political and diplomatic means on a bilateral basis in conformity with the 1972 Simla Agreement and the 1999 Lahore Declaration,” read the statement.
Meanwhile, EAM S Jaishankar also took to X and shared details about his conversation with Lavrov. In his post, he reiterated that perpetrators, backers and planners of the Pahalgam terror attack must be brought to justice.

Earlier on May 2, Jaishankar had spoken to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas. They had discussed the Pahalgam terrorist attack. EAM in an X post, welcomed European Union’s strong condemnation of terrorism in all forms and manifestations.
